This four story sustainable structure is located on the ASU Campus in Tempe, AZ. Approximately 129,000 sq ft and LEED Silver Certification. It features a classroom and studio for masters of real-estate development students, 10 auditorium-style classrooms, four traditional-style classrooms and 40 team rooms where small groups of students can work on projects in a collaborative setting.
Additionally, the building offers computer labs, specialized industry spaces, executive education facilities, conference rooms and study areas.
This building features an under floor air distribution system or UFAD System which uses a plenum beneath the raised access floor to deliver conditioned air up through floor diffusers directly to the occupied zone. UFAD systems rely on natural stratification of the air when warm air rises due to thermal buoyancy.
Essentially, since the conditioned air is distributed from the floor up, the occupant will breathe air that will contain a lower concentration of contaminants compared to conventional overhead air delivery systems. Four large rooftop air handling units (42,000 cfm each) provide conditioned air to each floor.
Chilled water is provided by the Campus District Cooling System, where a network of chilled water piping is routed underground and ties into an existing tunnel system that houses all central plant utilities.
